Which plugin are you using ? And did you check 'fast UIR init' ? Have you got the Evation IRserver running ?

hmm, are you by any chance not running as Admin ?

I just might have found something try this one:

http://www.girder.nl/temp/uir.zip

Let me know if it works for you.

When I converted the plugin I forgot to put back the settings loading  , it came to me when you said that moving the speed slider did the trick, it was not the slider but you pressing apply that did the trick, in essense you loaded the settings.

In this case it was a plugin error, it was fixed a long time ago. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I have XP and am having the same problem. I used 3.1 on Win ME and it worked perfectly. I then upgraded to XP and d/l'ed 3.2. I have to manually initialize a few times before it works.

Then, when I shut down, it says Girder is not responding and I have to manually exit it.

I am using the IRman from Evation

Hello, this ain't a big problem but the UIR won't initialize on startup of Girder so I have to do it manually which takes a few attempts sometimes. Could be the UIR. It used to do it though.

Yeah if I play around with the IR speed the initialize then it seems to work but still no initialize on startup.

I am using the UIR/IRman/CTinfra/Hollywood plugin that comes with Girder.

Fast UIR init is not checked.

The funny thing is if I move the IR Speed slider and then initialize it works.
Doesn't matter where it is set.

Oh and no I don't have Evation IR server.

Guys, if you use UIR and occasionally initialization fails, then most likely the problem is in UIR. What happens is that then you disable UIR the voltage on PIC starts dropping, and at some point (I think around 1.5-2.0V) PIC stops operating, and apparently can hang. (That is for PIC16FXX ) It can exit this lousy state only if voltage drops below 0.3V. It seems also that it does not consume little if any current in this state, so capacitor discharges only due to leakage current.

Result is that you need to disable UIR (sometimes if initialization fails UIR remains powered, so try disconnecting it) wait 15-30 sec, and then it power up.

Radical solution is to add resistor (around 10K ) across main capacitor.
