You would make a lot of people happy if you got this to work!

There is no documentation, if you want to know how the plugin works check out the source on the developers page.

I'm interested in maybe throwing my hat into the ring and doing an actisys plugin -- but I'm not certain I'll be happy with the results. Every spec I read on this states the range of the device is less than a meter. Is that going to be true receiving from a standard IR remote? I have a Harmony and it is an extremely powerful IR emitter -- it goes through my fingers sometimes when I'm covering it!

I'm a little puzzled with this. Maybe someone can help set me straight.
Can the actisys 200L dongle work without setting the serial port to IrDA or ASK mode? In other words, as an IrDA/ASK dongle -- does it demand that the UART be configured to use IrDA instead of COM1-4? Some (none I own) BIOS's allow for ASK protocol in their CMOS configurations -- is this what would be needed to use the actisys?
- or -
can this completely be bypassed by direct access to the dongle via COM1-4 with a girder plugin? If so -- where does the ASK protocol come in? Maybe the source or any doc's on the unsupported IrDA plugin would be helpful.
Pretty basic question, but I'm having trouble exactly putting my finger on how this dongle can be made to work with girder (and am happy to figure out how). It sounds to me that you'd need a UART with ASK protocol as an option to use the actisys in ASK mode...

Actually, Ron is not quite right about this. The Actisys 200 can do the ASK protocol, as well as IrDA. The AASK stuff is fully compatablewith regular consumer IR devices. Unfortunately, I am not a programmer and no one else has stepped forward to write a plugin for this device, so Girder support is out for now.

The 200L only needs the Serial port to be set as a standard serial port in BIOS. It is not really a dongle (although it looks like one) but rather a full fledged IR reciever/emitter.
EDIT: Sorry, let me clarify that. The 200L is set for use as COM1-4.

Hi ...
I am a newbie and my english ist not so good. Althoug i hope to get an answer for my (i think simple) question.
My Idea: I want to control my windows media player, DivX-Player or other multimedia programs remotly with my programmable infrared interface.
Since yesterday I am a owner of a serial IRda-Interface (Actisys 200+).
My first question: Can this Irda-device receive the signals from a normal remote control like my r-control for my televison ... ??
If yes : Great ... if no ... Shit, then i cant realize my idea ...
Second Question: Can I do that with Girder?
If yes ... can anyone help me, what plugin i have to use ? (Or an idea, how to configure basicly for my actisys-device?)
Sorry for my bad english, but this language was not my favorite in scool :-(
Thanx for an answer

P.S.: If my ir-device doesn't work with normal tv-remote controls, is there a plugin for my haupauge irda interface out there ?
