Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help me.
I have a Marmitek PC Remote Control and a RF USB Receiver (CM21A).
I decided to use Girder after searching the Net because the package that came with my remote included an old (krap!) version of ShowShifter.
Now... one of my main objectives is to be able to control Windows Media Player 11 using Girder.
Thing is... I can't seem to get it to work! Girder recognises my Remote all ok (I could successfully complete the demo from the manual of setting up windows Calc to work with Remote) and I can actually launch Media Player itself (C:\\Program Files\\Windows Media Player\\wmplayer.exe), however, the other Actions listed in Girder for Windows Media Player 9 and 10 (such as Play/Pause/Next etc) simply do not work - whichever Event I link them to.
Any ideas?
I could also get "Minimize Window" and "Restore Window" to work... but all I want to be able to do is Play/Stop/Forward/Back etc!!!
Any pointers would be much appreciated.
(If it helps, I'm using Girder 4 30 Day Trial downloaded from Promixis).
Many Thanks,
PJC

Hi,
We may need to change the targeting for WMP11.
On the WMP GML, remove the conditional node and see if that works.

Ok thanks Mike I will try that after work today and let you know.
If it doesn't work and you can change the targeting, it really would be great, as I haven't come across anything as innovating as Girder I must say!
Side point - is it compatible with Vista yet?
Thanks,
PJC

Hi,
We are looking at it this as well.
G4 works with Vista except for the audio controls.
G5 will include Viata audio control support.

Hi Mike,
Sorry, I'm not to sure how to remove the "conditional node"... the GML is....
+Windows Media Player 9 and 10 (under which there are 3 groups..)
>Start
>Windows Media Player 9 Controls
>Windows Media Player 10 Controls
... where would I find the Conditonal node?
Thanks,

Not sure what has gone wrong but I've been able to make it work again. Sadly this will take a little time to do. I'll try to get this done tomorrow.
If you want to have a go at this your self this is what needs to be done:
1. Open one of the actions (Windows Media Player 9 and 10\Windows Media Player 10 Controls\Play)
2. Make sure it is a 'keyboard (G3)' action (see tab for that).
3. View->Action List
4. From the tree that appears select the 'keyboard/keyboard' action
5. Re-enter the keyboard send information. For example control-p would be *p
6. hit apply.
To make this work with the player not in the foreground delete the Window Conditional node at the bottom of the action list.

Testing on my vista machine it appears that the WMP10 profile 'play' button seems to work for WMP11. As long as you delete the conditional node.
Windows Media Player 9 and 10\Windows Media Player 10 Controls\Window Conditional

Hi guys,
Unfortunately I'm still getting stuck with this one.
I can start and close the WMP application, but still cannot get the navigation buttons to work.
My remote control is shown as a "Nivea Modus Remote"... I don't know if this adds to the problem.
I then defined my own remote, try to assing the keys to actions in the WMP GML, deleted the Window conditional node.... but still no success :|
I've also ried to create a brand new GML and use command capture... but again WMP11 just seems to be very stubborn!

Okay. I only have WMP11 on Vista. I'll prepare it on that and we'll see if that works for XP too.

Give the attached file a try! To make sure you loaded the right one it will contain a group for WMP 11.

Note I didn't get to test it with fullscreen enabled as I was using RDC. Didn't want to turn the projector on for just 10 minutes of GML editing.

Hi Ron,
Just to say many thanks.. it seems to be working now :)
It seems a little bit intermitternt tho... i.e in the Log window, I see that a key was sent successfully (eg NEXT), but sometimes I have to press multiple times before the action actually occurs... maybe its WMP....?

Ron-
I just gave that GML a whirl for my WMP 11 on XP MCE 2005. It works fine as long as it's not in full screen mode, but the targeting is off as soon as you switch to full screen. Is it possible to come up with window conditional settings and action targeting that works in both modes? Please let me know if you have a chance to look at it and I will be happy to test it, and grateful to have it working on WPM 11. Thanks.
