Girder 3.2 handles APM events much more gracefully. The UIR plugin is the first to actually implement it there. However I have heard of cases that the UIR just doesn't want to init after an APM event, for some reason the COM port isn't ready when windows gives control to the apps( stupid IMHO ). If Girder 3.2 still has problems I'll implement a delayed re-enabling after an APM event. ( It works on my pc as it is now )

Nope, no separate APM plugin is needed, the apm functions have been implemented in Girder.

Does this new inbuilt APM standby function go about things in a different way to to ols APM plugin ?
Nope pretty much the same, apart from more options.

Consider the plugin by Valery Karkachev, this plugin has this option built in.

put the plugin ID in the ICON/device box. Thats all. You can find the plugin ID on the settings dialog.

I am trying to get my PC to the Nirvana of an 'instant on' and I am almost there.
I can bring my PC out of standy with my learning remote emulating the CTRL-ESC sequence that the PC uses for power on and I can send my PC into standy from the taskbar. I would like to perform the standby from Girder and was waiting for the suspend function to be implemented in 3.1, when I saw yesterday that the APM pligin is not listed for 3.1 cool, will try that later.
My main problem is that after a resume my IRMAN doesn't work any more. if I toggle F9 a couple of times to disable - re-enable the plugins it comes back, but I am wondering of this needs to be this way or if I have a specific problem. I was wondering what the "disable plugins on APM event" was meant for, but either checked or unchecked it still gives me the problem.
Should the IRMAN function after a resume?
If not then is there a bette way to get it back than F9 F9 ?
Thanks all

Thanks Ron, I'll give 3.2 a try and report back.

OK, I did some testing and 3.2 does in fact preserve the IRMAN plugin after a resume from STR.
The inbuilt APM function seems to work, although it takes a while after the keypress for the standby function to occur and now I get a message saying "preparing to standby" which is new, but apart form the all is well.
Does this new inbuilt APM standby function go about things in a different way to to ols APM plugin ?
I can now have my IR remote send the system into standby and bring it out again without a hitch :)
I discovered it by accident, but DScaler survives through the seuspend resume as well :)

An Interesting issue with the new built in APM function is that I can select "ram-alive polite" or "ram-alive forced", but with both options girder locks up. if I kill girder from the task manager the suspend function comes in instantly, making me think that girder is somehow tripping over itself.
Running Win2k SP2 and Girder 3.2b14 on an ASUS P4B266-C and 1.8A P4

OK,
One more problem.
The IRMAN is still active after a resume from STR mode most of the time, but sometimes not. Ir I toggle the input devices it comes back.
Can I use the Girder "disable device" and " enable device" commands to automate this ? If so, what would go in the icon/device box.
Thanks

Ron,
I will try that plugin, but in any case, could you direct me to any documentation on how the disable device command works.
Thanks

Try another plugin. "Generic Serial Based IR receiver" plugin can reinitialize your IRMAN every X srconds. This can help solve your problem

Do we still need an updated APM plugin for 3.2 ? There is a shutdown command in the OS tab. Can't we set it with a step/size option ?
