Explain what exactly happens and why it broke.
Does any of the windowname, classname exename change
what matching option have you enabled
Also give the classname, exename and windowname parameters.
try this
Remove exe matching
Remove windowname matching ( that is if the window class is unique on your system
Disable substring matching
Enable "match invisible tasks
Seems that TT is a commercial application, is there a timelimited version available as demo maybe ? (the homepage is down)

Rick,
That executable name looks weird, TheaterTek DVD.TMP0 is that right ?
What I meant by asking if the window name changed was not if it changed between TT version but when it ran. ( I'm not sure if that is even possible ). Anyway the targetting routines did not change from 3.1 -> 3.2. So I have no clue why it doesn't work. Maybe someone else with access to TT 1.2 can give us a hand here, I'm just blindly guessing now.

The problems reported here might have been solved:

Rick,
I haven't updated to TT 1.2 (I'm running 1.1) so I'm not sure if this will help but think it will :)
With XP and Girder 3.1.3c I only need the following targetting settings for TT to work reliably:
Substring Matching: Checked
Executable: Checked
Executable Name: THEATERTEK
Good Luck,
Steve

IIRC, I've seen TheaterTek DVD.TMP0 and TheaterTek DVD.TMP1 as executable names since version 1.0. I'm not sure if the name changes while TT is running or when TT is launched.
Anyway, that's why I'm using substring matching on "THEATERTEK".

I have noticed that I have intermittent window does not exist errors occuring on this group even though TTek is running. I am running the latest version 1.2 of TT.
My machine is an 850MHz duron on Win ME.
It occurs about 20-50% of the time....if this is related to the queuing resolved in 3.2 then apologies in advance....if you recommend going to 3.2 can I actually install over the top ok?
Thanks Rick

Actually this problem has come back since targeting is not my strength wondering if anyone else can tell me why the "window does not exist error" would appear intermittently and any suggestions on fixing it for the TheatreTek group.
The group works sometimes ie press chapter forward and it works then press it 10 times to get it to work again?

This is possibly a bug with the substring under me as it seems ok under XP but re targeting each function in the group seems to fix it under ME. I note the class name changes from what it was (Afx:400000:b) to something else so that could be it too.....I don't know enough about targeting to tell.....I do know that others are experiencing problems too.
Question .....where did those WParam numbers come from? and how do you figure out what each does to provide the correct function passed to the TTek executeable or process.
Any help appreciated I understand this could be caused by the new version changing class names.

Thanks Ron
Can you tell me how people get these wparam numbers for apps. It seems this is tthe number which drives the function within the app being targeted.
Thanks Rick

FYI
Here is a post on the immersive forum regarding the issues with this widely used group for the TheatreTek DVD player.
It seems the creator of this group possibly agree it maybe some issue with substring matching under ME.... easily worked around though.

Yes the class name changes in the latest version thats about it so it could be the latest version causing some of the issue here. Though class name is not ticked.
The thing is the old group works with XP it is just ME 98 having a problem. Retargeting the exe with the full name works with substring matching ticked ....I will try your other suggestions too. The main reason this group was done with substring was so it would work across windows versions.
Here is the original Group target settings that worked with the old version of Theatretek under ME:
Substring matching is ticked everything else unticked
Name Overlay ticked
Class Name AFx:400000:b
Executeable THEATERTEK Note this the partial exe ticked
Child Name Overlay
Child class Afx:400000:b
Here are the re targeted settings which resolve the problem under ME the settings above work fine under XP without change:
Substring matching is ticked everything else unticked
Name Overlay ticked
Class Name TTWndClass
Executeable TheaterTek DVD.TMP0 ticked
Child Name Overlay
Child class Afx:400000:b
Case is also accurate in these examples if that matters.
There is a time limit version but it is not downloadable though we maybe able to get permission to send a copy to you via email or something.
