I'm currently running G5B-517 on Vista 64 bit. So far most things seem to be working fine but I'm not having much luck getting an IR remote interface to work. I have a USB-UIRT but they don't have any 64 bit drivers that support Core 2 Duo processors (they have a 64 bit driver but it only works with AMD processors). So, I figured I'd dust off my SlinkE and use that for now but I'm having a problem getting that to work too.

Here's the problem - when I try to enable the SlinkE plugin nothing happens. I check on the plugin and hit apply but it still shows Plugin not loaded. If I then close the settings dialog and go back in the SlinkE plugin is no longer checked. Also, the settings button is always grayed out so there's no way to set what COM port it's connected to (which I suspect is part of the problem).

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Any errors shown in the Lua console?

Nothing in the LUA console but the logger shows this:

13:10:41:291 5/2/2007 SlinkE Error connecting to SlinkE
13:10:41:291 5/2/2007 Girder Plugin Open failed: C:\Program Files (x86)\Promixis\Girder5\plugins\Slinke.dll

Again, I suspect it's not using the right COM port but I don't know how to set it to use the right one. The Settings button stays grayed out when I have the plugin selected.

I'm not sure how the SlinkE plugin works, but it might be worth enabling the serial plugin.

Failing that, you could install Girder 4, and try it there. Then reinstall Girder 5 and tell the installer to migrate settings from Girder 4.

Did you try this Slink-e plugin? I just installed it a week ago and it works fine.

Hi guys,

I figured out the problem. It had been so long since I used my SlinkE that I forgot that I needed to install the SlinkE software. Once I did that both the Girder plugin and the new SlinkEx plugin work fine.

Thanks for your help.
