I just got a Russound Cav6.6 and I'm trying Girder 5.0 beta with a serial connection. Anyway, I'm not clear if the Russound plug-in needs to be licensed at this point or not. Under Setup > License Manager: it reports no license found. So far nothing is working for me, so is it my set up ie. serial cable or do I need to activate something?
Sincerely,
-mw

Hi,
Did you set the comport correctly? What does the Russound tab show? You may need a different serial cable?
Also, open the luaconsole window (F7). Any output there?

Hi Mike, Thanks for your help on a Sunday night! So the I assume from your reply that I do not need to worry about the no license message.
Here's my feedback. When you ask about comport info do you mean on the cav6 the PC or in Girder? If its in Girder where do I look? The plug for Russound reports that its loaded (even with the amp off and serial cabel discounnedted). Russound tab in the compoent manager has status: "Serial port not assigned"
While I know serial communications I'm a newbie with Girder, so don't assume I know anything...
Sincerely,
Mark Warren

Hi Mark,
Good so far, license not needed at this point if you have never installed G before.
You need to pick the serial port that you have the Russound connected to.

How do I pick the serial port?
Here's output from lua console:
stack traceback:
[string "Russound.gml:\Examples\Set Volume"]:6: in main chunk
[string "Russound.gml:\Examples\Set Volume"]:6: attempt to index global `RNET' (a nil value)

Should I try to null modem this cable?

This should just use a standard serial cable.
Please open the lua console window F7 when you select the serial port - any output there?

Hi Mike, I believe by showing you the output from Hyper Terminal (see the "Hello" and "Goodbye" messages amoungst the hex codes), we know the cable and serial port settings are ok.
As requested I have also attached Lua console screen shot. It seems I am missing something in the serial set up of Girder 5. Any idea's?
Sincerely,
Mark W.

Its working now. I removed build 518 including directories and used regedit to clear up and installed build 517. I enabled the serial plug and then the russound plugin.
Thanks for the replys.
