All -
I just purchased a NETA 980 running ce.net 4.1. A scan of the board regarding installin NR on these points to a process with fake dll's etc. described in this wiki entry:
http://www.netremote.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php?n=Main.SimpadPreparation
Is this still the appropriate path for installing the latest version on a 4.1 device
Thanks,
K

Hi K -
I believe that is still the proper method, though I'm not sure if anyone here is still running 4.1.

Thanks Ben.
Since I think I'm stuck with 4.1 on the NETA, I'm heading down the path of trying to resolve the "missing component" problem.
Here are the steps I took:
I copied AYGSHELL.DLL and DOCLIST.DLL into the windows directory
I then executed NetRemote-2.0.0.97.cab from a compact
flash in the NETA. The install worked fine.
I then copied MFCCE300.DLL into the
\programfiles\netremote directory
I still get the "cannot find netremote (or one of its..." message
Any thoughts? If anyone has installed NR2 on their NETA, please jump in!
Thanks!

Can you remove the plugins from the plugins directory and try re-running? It may be that one of the plugins requires something different.
Also - the cab you're using the PPC version, not CE 4.2, right?

Ben -
I removed all the dlls from the plugin directory - same results.
I'm using NetRemote-2.0.0.97.cab
Thanks again for helping me out Ben. I'm itching to get started with NR on this thing!

I haven't tested out everything yet, but I think I figured out the problem.
In the wiki entry I linked to, it only says to move two files to the \windows directory: AYGSHELL.DLL and DOCLIST.DLL.
I was searching the board today and found an old entry about installing NR on an airpanel v100 and it's version of the directions says to move all of the files (other than MFCCE300.dll which goes in the NR directory) into the \windows dir.
I followed the V100 directions and presto...
Thanks!

Hey Im messing around with a v100 and I cant find the pmwiki link (not working in above post) and no other search comes up. I was wondering what all files you had to move to make it work towards the end when you said you read the directions for the V100? Thanks!

I did it the hard way... googled it and then selected Cached as the wiki is no longer with us... I've asked for at least some of the info to ported over somehow because I also found the wiki helpful and informative with info that is clearer that the overtechnicalised version of the help we have today (so far that is... been trying to get them to make them a little more user-friendly).
My advice is to not give up though... darn programs are difficult to start with but damn are they good stuff. I nearly gave up at the early stages but now am a confirmed Promixian...

This message relied on an old post that is no longer active but there were clues as to how to do this. I hope the following will make it easier in the future.
First off make sure you can synchronize with your device using activesync.
Make sure in activesync under tools/options, files has a checkmark by it.
This will create a folder on your desktop that activesync will use to move files to the device. These files end up in the my documents folder on the ce 4.1 device.
Install NetRemote for ppc.
This will create two folders in the Windows CE folder on the desktop containing CCF and NRSkins data.
Search you computer for AYGSHELL.DLL.
In the folder containing AYGSHELL.DLL you should find six other files.
Make a new folder in the Windows CE My Documents folder on your desktop.
Copy the six files into the new folder.
Go into activesync and sync your CE device.
Now go to the CE device.
Go into My Documents
There should be a folder that has the same name as the one you created on the PC. Open it.
Copy all of the files except for mfcee300.dll into the windows directory.
Copy the mfcee300.dll into the program files\netremote directory.
Net remote should run now.
