Userevent has been updated a few days ago already, I just checked the plugin on the download page and it works. I guess you made a mistake while download/copying the plugin.

Converting to 3.2 means going through 2 convertors.
Girder 3.0 -> 3.1
Girder 3.1 -> 3.2
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yes, you can do what you are asking.
Check out the UserEvent plugin. Create a UserEvent command in the place where you say "Generate Play_event" and learn that as the event string for each group's play command.

I'm glad this is working for you.
... the name says it all ...
Having multiple plugins with multiple versions for multiple versions of Girder caused a SNAFU between Ron and I. I thought the file naming thing would help us keep it straight. :D

SNAFU - Situation Normal, All F***ed Up
I appologize for using an American colloquialism in this multi-national community. I will try to remember, in the future, that y'all may not be hip to my jive. :lol:

I'm using Girder with around 25 different groups. Most of these groups are only enabled when I open that specific application. The problem is that when I change remote control or the UIRT receiver I have to learn all commands for each command in each group again, also when they are the same. Therefor following question;
Is it possible to define the remote control buttons and then use links to the rest of the Girder file ?
Example;
Group: RC commands
Command: Play
eventstring: Sony_Play_button_for_UIR
eventstring: Sony_Play_button_for_UIRT
eventstring: Philips_Play_button_for_UIR
eventstring: etc...
Generate Play_event
Group: Zoomplayer
Command: Play
evenstring: Play_event
send Play to zoomplayer
Group: PowerDVD
Command: Play
evenstring: Play_event
send Play to zoomplayer
Group: Winamp
Command: Play
eventstring: Play_event
send Play to Winamp
I hope the explanation is clear :oops: . This solution would make it much more simple for me to change either RC or receiver and learning is difficult on my HTPC because I'm using a IR wireless keyboard. This means I have to cover the UIR receiver each time I press LEARN with the wireless keyboard otherwise the keyboard command is interpreted as the RC code.

Mark,
I planned to update my HTPC girder control file according to above description. I started with a new Girder 3.2 installation (separate directory) and included your plugin but it claims "can't find all required exports". When I read Ron's comment in another thread correctly this means that the plugin is not compatible with 3.2 and needs to be updated. Is it possible that this is the case?
It's a little unclear since the download page shows only Girder 3.2b10 (3.1 and 3.0 only as option) and a range of plugins. I would have expected that these are all for 3.2, but now I'm not sure anymore. Secondly I would like to start now with 3.2 when I update my girder file.

Hmm,
really strange :oops: . I'm sure that I've downloaded today, just after the post from mark and I got version UserEvent103.for.3.1.3C.zip (have to admit, the name says it all :roll: ). Maybe it's my proxy keeping old links, I don't know. It's definitely not the same problem as I had with the APM plugin.
Nevertheless thanks for the update. I've played around a little with 3.1 in the mean time and it really does work great. Now it should become much simpler to use a different remote or receiver in a large multigroup configuration.

Yes I went to quick :oops: . Downloaded the file on 1 PC, unzipped to a directory User Events and then rushed to my second HTPC to see how it worked :wink: . Only after Ron's remark I checked what I downloaded.
I hope I can create a generic HTPC file which may be of use to other people as well. It supports 6 functions (Digital TV, Digital Radio, MP3, DVD, Divx and Photo's) with a range of different applications which can be selected in a configuration menu (also via Girder :D ).
The only problem I discovered today is that the converted GIR file to GML has a lot of erros, mainly in the enable/disable group functions. Hope I didn't use the wrong converter there :-? . It will take some time to clean up the new GML file, but then I also know again how I made it :wink:
