I would like to control my music software from a handheld device, a remote with lcd screen would be my first option but if that is not possible then what else can I look into please? All I need to do is to see the pc screen and be able to control it's functions but from the handheld device, any ideas please? Thanks.

You can run Remote Desktop from a Windows-based PDA or tablet. That's probably the easiest way to see your PC screen on a hand-held device. The caveat here is that you can only see a portion of the screen at a time on a PDA, and the responsiveness can be low.
If you're willing to put in a little bit of setup time, and your music software is supported by MediaBridge, you could install MediaBridge on your computer, and then use NetRemote on a WiFi enabled PDA. This is a very slick solution which many of us currently employ.
Cheers,
Tim
