I can't get nr2 (although previous versions of nr2 worked fine.) to load except with the new pro...ccf If I try to start with opus nr1024 ccf it errors with the windows generic error and wants to know if I would like to send the error report to MS. If I try to load though designer I get an error message "not enough memory" error. I am stumped. Machine is xp sp2 with all of the .net updates. Machine is a stable work horse... BTW the troubleshoting link on the main page links to nowhere...
Help!

Strange, I've just tried about four different CCFs here and they all loaded fine.
Can you upload your CCF and .lua file here for me to try (or mail it to me).

Thanks for the interest. Attached are the files, but they should be as posted. Many other examples are avialble but they too are as posted.

Works fine here - very strange!
Can you try reinstalling NR? Possibly even uninstalling it first.

I have uninstalled and re-installed many times. Including cleaning up the registry manually as it relates to netremote. Also same symptoms on other PC in teh home.

Not really sure what to suggest.
Is this all from the same installer?
Are you using US or International English or some other locale?
When you uninstalled, did you delete the NR directory?

Perhaps try clearing out the plug-ins directory to see if it's a plug-in that's causing the problem?

I have scrubbed the system...
removed through add/remove any promixis software
manually deleted program files\netremote folder
manually deleted program files\promixix....
manually removed the keys and data for netremote from the registry
installed .99 all default locations.
settings are US
Problem is occuring on multiple PC's although all XP sp2
Can load and run ccf new-pro 480 x 640 ccf with no problem
Can load and run ccf mce 1024 x 768 with no problem
CAN'T load OpusNR 1024
CAN'T load NRMusic 800 x 600 which is the one I really want!
up until this problem developed when installing newest version of nr2 (.99) had no problem with .79/nr2
no girder just homeseer but no connection to homeseer
pretty wide open network

Any luck running without the plugins?
Rob H
July 25th, 2007, 07:16 AM
Can you try as tmorten suggests and remove all plugins except NRBasic from the NR\plugins directory, then try opening NRMusic 800 x 600. If that works start adding the plugins back and repeat until it fails.
It may also be worthwhile downloading DebugView from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Miscellaneous/DebugView.mspx to see if it reports anything useful before it fails.

As I was deciding to use JRMC as my media center instead of XBMC I thought I would try the demos... and I'm having the exact same problem with loads of CCF's not loading and crashing NR.
I tried removing all the plugins bar the nrbasic one... no luck.
Any ccf I created myself... works
The demos that come with NR... works
CCF's I've downloaded from the Proxmis site... crashes NR during loading.
I have attached a screenshot of debugview and the crash when I tried to load NRMusic_800x600.ccf.
I then tried to open up NRMusic_800x6001.ccf in NRD and NRD shows this in the log...
Connecting to NetRemote object
Creating CoNetRemoteHelper
There was an uncaught exception initializing the application
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at com.promixis.NetRemoteInterface.CheckAlive()
at com.promixis.NetRemoteInterface.get_Singleton()

at com.promixis.Forms.NRIEditorForm..ctor(String filename)
at com.promixis.Forms.NRIEditorForm.Main(String[] argv)
I can't even load up NRD to do my tracking method of chopping out chunks of code until the CCF loads. :(
I hope this helps track this darn bug down. As it is NR is pretty darned unstable. I know bugs you can't reproduce are a £$&* to fix so you have my sympathy.
edit: Is there any chance of a .79 version download to see if that works like the OP mentions.

Well this makes a change... I HAVE THE FIX FOR THIS!!!!
1. OK... make sure that you can open NR manually (just rename the duff CCF NR tries to load automatically... when the windows system actually lets you that is).
2. After NR is running load up NRD. Load in the troublesome CCF
3. Right click on "System" and then click properties.
4. Change the filetype to 1.1 (I used the very latest version)
5. Click accept.
6. Save the CCF.
Bingo... you should now be able to open the CCF in NR.
Hope that helps... I just got NRMusic 800x600 fixed this way... :D

Just tried reinstalling .99 in a different directory here and still can't reproduce this problem :(
That suggests to me that the problem may lie in either the hardware (and associated device drivers) or other software running on the PCs in question.
The error dialog indicates a problem in ntdll.dll which is used in opening files and sockets (amongst other things).
1) What firewall and/or AV software is running
2) What chipset is used by the network - e.g. NVidia? We've had problems with NVidia network chipsets before.
Also, can you upload the CCF and .lua that you're trying to load, in case I'm trying the wrong one.

Err... Try any 1.0 version file from you download site. I've repaired all mine now.
It's definately down to the 1.0 file version. For some reason NR on my laptop just cant load them. I have to setup a friends new PC tonight so I'll try it on his and report back.

If by removing the plug-in(s) you mean to physically take them from the plugin folder and stash elsewhere I have completed that task. With only drv_nrbasic netremote will load with the ccf that previously failed - no functionality to speak of though I am sure that is to be expected. Adding in drv_mediabridge casues failure. So now that we know the issue is revealed when drv_basic and drv_mediabridge are installed whats next?
again thanks for the interest...

Is MediaBridge running?
If not try starting it, if it is then shut it down and see if that lets the CCF load.
What media player is Mediabridge talking to? Would I be right in assuming that Mediabridge is version 2.2.0.83?

Attached is the log files created by MS debugview. As I am not very adept at some of the technical aspects but to me it looks generally ok. looks like the ccf loads and media bridge can find my host. But

ps. also attached is log file when netremote runs sucessfully with a new pro.. ccf

Richard have you tried my fix? All the CCF's that crashed netremote before are now working...
I tried uploading the fixed 800x600 but it's too big.
Edit: Here's one for you.. the NRMusic_800x600.ccf file in its original state crashes my NR. I updated it to file filetypes 1.1 to 1.4 and NR can load them fine. It's only v1.0 files that NR cannot open for some reason.
Oh yeah and I have a Nvidia graphics card... Nvidia FX Go5700 in my laptop. Something in v1.0 files that was fixed back in v1.1?

Neomorph,
I did try your fix. didn't work.
I have tried installing mediabridge on the machine I use mostly for netremote (doens't have any music) no joy. I tried to install .99 on the jrmc host with the theroy that maybe something was amis with media bridge and now the entire world has gone to pot so to speak. netremote installs ok but mediabridge barks about an error opening http:\\netremote...mfc71u.dll Server returned status code 404. No firewall is/was running on this machine. You can get the install to finish but life sucks from the perspective of jrmc and netremote. I fondly rememebr nr2...79 as everthing worked great right up untill last week when I decided to upgrade. I wish I had kept that copy around somewhere...
Any more thoughts I ask sadly

Have you tried 2.0.0.98 which is still available for download.
I'll see if I can dig up a 2.0.0.79 installer.
In the meantime, when it crashes, on the error dialog there should be a link(or button?) to view more information about the error, if you can post some of the details here it would help to track down what's going wrong.

Oh.. OK... I thought that your problem was the same as mine and that you had missed my post.
What graphics card are you using Richard? I think Rob mentioned something weird with Nvidia cards (unfortunately all I have in this house is Nvidia cards)

One thing that I havent tried - on-read of your post about ccf versions I see you went beyond version 1.1 and went to 1.4. I havent had time to try that. I will this morning when I get back from taking the mut to the vet. Also will post the ms error data. Around 11am CDT us.

It's not the graphics card, it's the motherboard chipset, specifically NForce 3 and 4 chipsets, especially with NVidia LAN chips.
I run NVidia graphics cards here exclusively without problems.

I changed the version to 1.4 and now life is much more enjoyable as nr2 the .99 versions with any ccf I have once the ccf has been changed to 1.4 will load and work properly!!!
Thanks for all of everyones efforts.

I can't believe it... I got one right instead of asking all the dumb noob questions. :D
Rob how about if we post as much hardware info as possible... would that help maybe?
One thing I found was that if I loaded a version 1.0 of the NRMusic 800x600 and deleted that top frame in the template then the CCF would load even though it's a 1.0 file. Something is that header frame is definately the cause. When I've got a couple of hours spare I'll trace it down to the culprit.. unfortunately I'm having to help a friend setup his own home network and new PCs over the next couple of days so I'm going to be short of time. :(
Richard I'm glad that conversion tweak helped. :)

Since the error seems to be with the version of ccf 1.0 to 1.4 do you want the error file details from the MS error message. If so I don't know how to find the text. There is an attachment but it doesn't really seem to be real useful.
Rob H

From memory, you have to click on at least 3 buttons or links to get to the text.

Rob,
I don't see any way to get you the text ms error report. I can't mark and copy/paste as those functions seem to have been disabled by ms. All I can do scroll though the data - no right click no nothing.

It saves a txt file of it but only while that error screen is open.
Leave the error dialog open and look for where it has saved it (bottom panel).
Highlight the whole line and then hit CTRL-C (copies the link).
Open Windows Explorer and in the address box at the top of the screen paste the link. Hit enter.
The error file will then open up for you (in xml) and you can save it anywhere you want, ready to upload it to the forums.
Job done.

the only file found is attached. On first look it doesn't seem to have all of the data that is displayable in the error dialog...

I don't know if this is the exact same problem, but I found the solution for mine. I couldn't get Netremote to load any of my ccf's on my server.
NR froze at startup every time (not responding in task manager) The solution for the problem was to close mediabridge on my other computer on the network. I don't know why this solved my problem, but it did.
