View Full Version : Harmony remote repeats itself - please advise!

Hello,
My old Harmony 659 died and I got a new one - 676 (almost the same). I decided to program it differently and now I have a different problem..
With the old one I actually learned every IR code from an Aiwa CD player remote into the Harmony and it worked pretty well except that Aiwa would send different codes depending on the length of pressing - that could be easily corrected in the device mapper - I had 3-4 codes for every button but it worked.

This time, I took a remote from Harmony database (Niveus Media Center Denali) - it had all buttons and many custom commands preprogrammed with IR codes - so I thought that should be good.

However, now the Harmony shoots the same code exactly 3 times when I press a button.

Say, I press "pause" - it sends the command 3 times - pause + pause + pause and the player (JRMC) goes PAUSE-PLAY-PAUSE. Not nice.

I played with Repeat Delay and repeat Freq Limit but it didn't change anything..

Any idea on how to fix this?

Oh.. I am using it with USB-UIRT (maybe this can be tweaked on its level?)

Thanks!!

Best advise I can give you here is to pick a different remote to emulate. Second best is to use anti-repeat.

Ron,
Thanks!
How do I adjust anti-repeat?
There's Repeat Delay and Repeat Freq in device mapping but those don't change much for me..
--------------

Anyhoo. I returned to my older setup using the Aiwa codes. It works in general but Harmony sends more than one code from each button depending on the length of the press (up to 4 different codes).

I understand that this is the Logitech problem rather that Girder.. but maybe someone can give me some idea on how to improve on this..

The original remote (Aiwa) sends nice single codes (as I can see in Girder Log).
When I teach the Harmony these codes or load the codes from Harmony database, Harmony sends right codes plus slightly different ones if I press in a slightly "different way".

There are two spots this can be done. If you are using mapped events then you need to tweak the typematic settings in the mapping editor.

If you are using straight events edit the event on the action tree and modify the anti-repeat time.
