Hello,
Decided to give G5 a try...
2 immediate problems:
-- LCD plugin crashes G5 once I go to Options/Plugins/LCD/Configure (works in G4)
I don't have any VFD/LCD devices except for an LCD monitor - was going to use it in LCD simulator mode
-- No OSD volume bar shown an volume change (volume changes but no OSD). Again, works in G4...
Any settings I missed to make this work?
Thanks!

Regarding the LCD plugin that is odd. I am using it here without troubles. Did you install any new .dlls? If so which.
To get the volume bar working enable the audiomixer plugin and then on the audiomixer configuration tab ( File->Settings->Plugins->Audiomixer) check the first two checkboxes.

Ron,
Thanks for a speedy reply!
-- no. no extra dlls. fresh G5 install.
-- audiomixer enabled and the checkboxes checked.. (and they were). no go.
:(
BTW. I tried to substitute the LCD.dll with the one from G4 - this one doesnt crash but when I press Add, nothing happens..

This crashes for me as well. Can anyone follow the directions covered in this screencast using Girder 5?

As soon as I click the 'Settings' button for the LCD plugin Girder crashes.
I should mention that I'm on Vista and I haven't installed any software for the LCD driver. Do I need to have DL PORTIO or anything else installed for this to work? It's a 2-line 25 column parallel port display.

Try installing this version of the plugin:

Thanks Rob, that did work. When I ran the installer I had to change the install path to Girder5 instead of Girder of course. It also warned me that a newer version of the pertelian.dll already existed and asked me if I wanted to overwrite it. I switched to Explorer and backed it up before clicking 'OK'.
After the install I ran Girder again and I could choose the settings window. Unfortunately I still couldn't select the option for my display because it's a parallel port display and I got a message that DLPORTIO.DLL was required. DLPORTIO.DLL was easy enough to find, but the installer (port95nt.exe) doesn't work on Vista. You also can't extract just the dll out of the package.
Fortunately I found InpOut32 and InpOutx64 (http://www.highrez.co.uk/Downloads/InpOut32/default.htm) which do work on Vista and are binary compatible with DLPORTIO.DLL. You just download the binaries archive (http://www.highrez.co.uk/scripts/download.asp?package=InpOutBinaries), extract it and rename the inpoutxxx.dll to DLLPORTIO.DLL. Then copy it to your Girder or Girder5 directory. After that, LCD worked like a champ.
