I was thinking today how nice it would be to have a Netremote client written to run under Linux. It would let people use a Nokia 770/800 or other cheap Linux touch tablet quite simply. I have seen discussion of Girder running under Linux and I would agree that the driver issues would be hard but I think that just the NR client might not have those issues if it did nothing local like IR. If it could run a CCF created in a Win32 NRD that would minimize the port.

Just an idea...

(yes I know you can run rdp on it and use a remote XP system but thats if you have one to rdp to in the first place)

We've had some discussions about how a Linux version would be accomplished, but NR is pretty deeply tied to Windows at the moment. Probably not something that we'll be able to tackle in the near-term, but we'll see what the future holds :).

I think keeping Linux as an option is a good idea. There are a lot of low cost small portable and embedded systems using Linux as it keeps the cost down.
