Girder probably can't do this, but is anyone aware of any way to turn my computer on with my remote? This is definately possible with the new ATX cases/mobos.

It just so happens that I am using a IRMan. What mobo do you have? I'm using the Asus P4T-E. Is it possible with this board?

I've seen this mentioned in the UIRT forum, but (as far as I understood it), they were able to turn the computer on through the receiver hardware.

However, if you have another receiver (such as IRMan), some motherboards have an option to power on when they receive data from the COM port. If so, you can set this in your BIOS. I have mine set up this way, and it works great.

My motherboard is an Epox EP-MVP3G2 with VIA MVP3 AGPset. The BIOS is Award Modular v4.51PG / Apollo MVP3 AGP/PCIset.

I'm not sure if your motherboard will work. I couldn't find it listed as a feature for that board on Asus' web site, but this seems to be a somewhat obscure feature, so you might have it. Check your manual, or just look through your BIOS. On mine, it's under the Power Management menu, and it's called LPT/COM.

My board is pretty cheap, and not very good (I hope to get a new one soon :) ), so I would think that a good name like Asus has a good chance of including that feature.

It's a nice thing to have, but I leave my computer on all the time anyway, so it doesn't really matter for me. Hope you get it to work.
