THe best way to control equipment via a tablet is to use wireless ip network and the ip event client running on your tablet if it is a windows device....or netremote if it is a CE or windows device.
This can send unique commands over ip to girder which can then execute ir coomands via a slink-e or UIRT.
Alternatively you can use the serial port plugin to send RS232 commands and receive status on equipment if you have equipment with that kind of interface.
This gives you crestron like levels of control over your gear.
