View Full Version : HAI Omni - 'Device Missing' error when selecting Serial Port

I have just upgraded from V4 to 5.0 Build 523 and trying to setup my HAI controller. In 'Component Manager' when I select any Serial Port the 'Status' shows 'Device Missing'. The 'HAI Omni' device does not show up in the 'Serial Plugin' list either?
I had no trouble selecting the Serial Port & comunicating with the panel in V4.
Am I doing something wrong in V5? I am new to Girder also :-) I tried adding a Serial device in the Transport manager but no difference.
I searched the forums and it appears no one else has had this problem so it must be me?
P.S. The HAI Omni plugin shows 'loaded' version 1.7.2, API 3 & Dev NO 901.
Thanks
Cheers

Hmm.. that seems to indicate that either the HAI serial plugin is missing or there was an error when loading it.
Have you entered your registration key for it?

OK, Is there NO trial period for V5? I only discovered Girder on the weekend :-) so it just been installed on my PC for a few days.
I have not purchased any licenses as yet to ensure all is OK with my setup. I currently use HomeSeer and want to move over to Girder.
I also noticed that the 'Enter Registration Key' button in the HAI plugin is 'greyed out'??
P.S. The HAI plugin is built into V5 so no extra installs required? Correct?
Thanks

Hmm.. as far as I know the plugin is included with the G5 install. I guess it may have become confused if you've installed G4 then G5 but it shouldn't.
Let me just check a couple of things - did you install G5 in the same directory as G4? Where are you trying to setup the HAI Omni in G5?

Further to that, do you see any errors in the Lua console either on startup, or when trying to assign a serial port?

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your assistance !!
I installed V5 in a seperate directory ...\Girder5 and V4 in its default ...\Girder
I thought it may have got confused so I did a 'fresh' install of V5 on another computer that had not had V4 installed & same problem.
I am trying to set it up using the Component Manager, then Security Controllers then HAI. Initially I did not have the 'common Serial' plugin enabled so I could not even select the Serial Port. After enabling the Serial plugin I could select the port byt then get the 'Device Missing Error.

Ah, interesting.
Can you try this replacement for treescript\HAI UI.lua?
I probably won't see your response until tomorrow as it's gone 1 AM here.

Hi Rob,
I tried replacing the file but no difference. Can I download an earlier version than build 523 to try.
Thanks for your assistance!

Do you get any other errors in the Lua console though?

Hi Rob,
No other errors on statup or when I try to select the port. Last night I had a quick look at the code & the error string I'm getting is when it is looking for the serial device. So it does seem that something missing/wrong with this build for HAI?

Do you have a HAI.lua in the plugins\serial folder?

Sure do, I attached a zipped file from my 'plugin' directory also.

I'm a bit stumped at the moment - it's certainly not doing that here when I try it without a HAI connected (mostly because I don't have one - not even sure they're available in the UK). I get 'No response' so the serial device is clearly loading here.
Can you clear the Lua console and reset Girder then paste the results here.

Hi Rob,
Did it but I gather no errors are shown as the Serial device is NOT being called because its not enabled.
Thx

Hi again Rob,
Not sure if this is related but when checking the License Manager I had an error for HAi Omni which displayed a link to a 'fix request'. I have never purcahsed a license for HAI or Girder.
Could this be the problem?
Thx
Cheers

I would have thought that it would allow you a trial period of 30 days or so.
Ron should be back from CES tomorrow - he'll have a better idea on the licensing issues than I do.
