Does the Insteon pluggin support the new Outletlinc device? I have been thinking of getting a couple of these devices, but I want to make sure that they will be recognized by the Insteon pluggin in Girder. Does the Insteon pluggin get device type infro from Insteon devices and compare them with a database?
Anyway, Smarthome has a number of new Insteon products that are about to be released and I am hoping that Girder can work with them.

While waiting for a response to my Outletlinc support question I decided to add a couple of
new Insteon support issues.
Smarthome is just about to ship their Insteon thermostat adaptor. Any idea as to whether
this will be usable under the Device Manager in G5? It is supposed to work with any Insteon
controller and have two-way communication.
Also, Girder's polling of my remotelinc is really generating a lot of wasted Insteon traffic.
I've been trying to keep the traffic down as my PLC is fairly fragile and locks up at least
once a weak. Any hope of adding the ability to skip polling to specific devices?
In general I would like to know if the Girder insteon plugin is going to be updated anytime in
the near future? I know that there are a lot of pluggins to support, but it would be nice to
hear if there were any plans for Insteon users.
Thanks for any info,
Peter

I understand Tim has been working on a replacement Insteon plugin that talks directly to the PLC rather than using Smarthome's Device Manager. No idea on an ETA though.

Rob,
Thanks for the info. I'll ask Tim on the Netremote forum for some info.

Well, it looks like Tim is not working on a replacement Insteon plugin. So I'll ask again what
plans there are for furture Insteon support from Girder.
1) are there plans to address issues with the current Insteon plugin and lua code?
2) are there plans to add new features ( like selective polling) to the current Insteon plugin?
3) are there plans to add support for new Insteon devices (like the Thermostat)?
4) are there plans to replace the Insteon plugin with a PLM of internet bridge version?
I know that you are still helping users work with the current Insteon plugin. I would like to get
some input as to fixes and future extensions.
Thanks for any info.

I'm also interested in this just so you don't think Peter is the only one. Specifically for me I would like to get the SimpleHomeNet 2X4 I/O device woking in Girder. I naively assumed that since it is an Insteon device the Insteon plug-in could control and detect the status of the individual I/Os.
Thanks,

I'm with Peter. I bought Girder and Netremote hoping to maximize my Insteon installation. While Girder has helped me add a lot of functionality there is, IMHO, a lot left to be desired.

We have the insteon EZRain and EZIO8T in the lab so we can add support for those.

Ron,
Thanks for the response. Since I know you are very busy, I was thinking that it might be
useful to start a new Insteon thead to have users post what features/issues they would
like worked on. Adding support for EZRain and EZIO8T would certainly be nice as this would
allow for more device support.

Fantastic!
So... is this the thread? I really want to expand my Insteon possibilities. Lights are cool but I'm getting the itch to try other stuff.
Thanks,
MR
