You'll need Girder 5 (latest version) and the plugin that Ron uploaded (http://www.promixis.com/download.php?ID=1026). Note that for this to work there must be a Device Manager provider written for each of the devices you want to control.

Dear Rob,

Thanks for your reply. I have worked all day today to try to get Girder 5 to work. I have downloaded the files you indicated and extracted them in the correct directory.

I am aware how to create actions and events. However, I am missing the link between Girder and Ipod. You say that there must be a device manager for each device I want to control. Are there any examples on how to perform this?

thanks neo

What make and model of TV and DVD player do you have? Device Manager tends to work best with devices that provide two-way control e.g. over a serial, USB or LAN connection, but you could create an internal model of an IR only device (although things do get a bit tricky if the remote control is used).

Rob,

I was thinking of learning the remote control functions I would like to use. I have ordered and expecting to receive the USB uirt . Note that I would like to control a dreambox dm500s, a toshiba lcd tv 32hl67u, a cambridge audio DVD dvd890, a comcrypt4000 and a denon avr1750 receiver.

Thanks neo

I have managed to record my actions from my remote control using USBUIRT.

I got the ipod to access the web server of girder.

I have trouble creating multiple locations for my devices and creating buttons on for the ipod to control my actions.

Help is much appreciated.

regards,
Neo
