I recently upgraded my htpc new motherboard video card memory and cpu.

Since then the serial port card and motherboard serial port while all ok in device manager are not working in Girder.

when I re-install the os which is XP it added my serial port card and created com 6 and 7 rather than 3 and 4 as it use to be. I re assigned the port back to 3 and 4 and it worked. Hoever after a reboot the y no longer work. Re-installing drivers seemed to sort it however rebooting and they no longer work.

Any ideas would be great.

Wow. That is very strange. Are you running the Generic X10 Remotes plugin?

Just for the fun of it, remove that plugin from the plugin directory and see if your troubles persist.

Ok will try that.... I did have an issue early and we delayed the X10 plugin load which solved the initialization timing problem....with that problem a script enable got everything working this time script restart has no effect.

When I get home will try not loading plugin at all do you mean remove my script which enables plugin or remove the plugin from Driectory ???? where is that done

did a search of registry and it seems the x10 stuff is grabbing com7 and 8 as well as the com 3 and 4 changed it all to com 9 and 10 and it now all works ok...reinstalls probably screwed some stuff all survives reboot so all good thanks
