It is also too bad you still need to run the ATI aoftware to get the remote's capabilities. Why didn't they just publish the driver interface? What a waste.

Ahhh! Now I know why. They REQUIRE you to use their MMC (to utilize the TV and Media Library buttons) which REQUIRES, of course, one of their graphics boards. Another button, DVD, has a pre-defined meaning which cannot be changed.

They pointed me to the same ATI developer's web page as the AVSForum thread.

Looks great! i have now re-added the remote wonder to the potential purchase-list of remotes (too bad it's kinda expensive here in Sweden)

From the avs-forum
1.
"Editorial: We leave it up to you guys to figure out what plug-ins you need and make them happen. This includes, I suppose a link up with the Girder project if that is what is needed. Enjoy "
- Stephen Orr (The ATI-guy)
"Though this IS a step in the right direction, there is an omission of 3 critical keys that will not allow an application like Girder to utilize this remote control to it's fullest. ALL key events need to be sent through Girder, including DVD, TV and Media Library. "
- Huckster
"Currently ATI does not want to allow 100% decoupling of the Remote Control from ATI's own product suite. As a result these 3 keys will continue to be tied to ATI's MMC with no way to reprogram them. "
- Stephen Orr (The ATI-guy)
Does this mean possible "partly-girder-support-for-all-buttons-without-one" or does it mean "no support at all"?
