Generic PC Infrared remote help needed

I bought a cheap USB infrared remote at eBay:

Anyway, it seem as though it basically emulates a keyboard. It comes up as an HID device in device manager.

I want to use it with my Girder 4.0 and WinAmp but I'm having no luck. I have tried using the keyboard plugin and also creating my own input device. For example, if I hit the pause button, now matter what I do the WinAmp preferences (Ctrl-P) screen pops up.

Anybody have a good idea what I can do with this, if anything?

Man, that was cool! Like Will Smith says when he's flying the alien space ship: "I gotta get me one of these!" :D For you problem, have you tried to run it as a Windows Media Center Remote? It seems like that's what it's meant to do. OfF course I may be totally wrong, but it's worth a shot, isn't it?

Edit: Woops, Can't find that stuff. I thought it was there somewhere. Ron/Rob? If he can get that working I'll buy a few of those for myself!

OK, I'll try that. Is there a specific plugin I should use? It comes with software that isn't half bad and works well within it. But I like my WinAmp and Jet Audio so I want to try and get it to work with it. The infrared sensor is very nice with a self retracting cord.

I'll let you know how I make out.
