Is there a description of the RC6 protocol available?
If so, I would try to update URCR plugin to include this protocol... Since I doubt I have a RC6 remote at home, I would also need someone to test the plugin. Any volunteer?

That seems to be a limitation of the IRMAN, the code it returns is not the thing it received. They hash it up somehow. Maybe the hash is not unique.

Welcome to Girder!
The format of the IR event is dependant on the plugin generating the event. What IR receiver are you using?
In general, the format of the event strings is not something that plugin developers document so even with the above information, it may not be possible to give a good answer. Sorry. :(

The URCR http://www.dalton-electronics.com/URCR/
returns info on the timing of the code, it does not calculate a code by its self (which is what IRMAN does) The plugin then takes the timing data and calculates the code, so it is concievable that it can see more codes than the IRMAN. And the plugin can be extended... if of course the author has the time and the inclinatation to do so

If you still have problems with that site you can always check out the page of the URCR plugin's author at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/eric.georgeaux/ir_remote
He also has an alternative design of the hardaware on his site.

The URCR http://www.dalton-electronics.com/URCR/
seams to be dead... is it dalton electronics that fail, my computerS, the DNS, or the adress is not fine (which I doubt, google returns the exact same adress when I search)

Is it because I'm canadian??? the website works fine today, but I tried it several time before and it wasn't there, I had error 404.
It would be only from home I'd think my ISP is crappy, but I couldn't get to this one even from work. I had a trouble from home with the forum, but it wasn't error 404. so I guess something weird is just happening. :(
anyhow, thanks.

Firstly, Girder is a very cool app.
A friend and I would like to use a Pronto Remote and Girder to give playlist access to our entire MP3 music collection. we can automatically create a Pronto configuration file to list out all albums on the remotes’ screen and we can allocate IR strings to them. Creating a corresponding XML file for Girder to execute the playlist files should not be a problem. However we are having some problems understanding the format of the 12 character hexadecimal representation of the IR eventstring in Girder. Can anyone help?
I am looking to generate and use between 500 and 1000 IR strings. Within the Pronto software we can create RC5 and RC6 codes directly that would give sufficient unique eventstrings. However RC6 codes do not seem to work at all with Girder (every command produces the same code) and the RC5 codes work but different codes can produce the same 12 character Hex string! E.g. System 0 Command 1 gives the same eventstring as system 31 command 126 (554000000000). Also the relationship between the two does not seem easy to calculate.
Can anyone shed any light on this or suggest a way to move forward?
Thanks

Thanks.
Would you recommend an alternative device?

Actually I think that we can do it with IRman but we will need to use a lookup table for all the codes as they are not sequential, they do have a pattern though.
Is there a written definintion of the XML config files so I can create a config programmatically?
thanks
