Ok, this looks very cool. Good luck..

BTW, check out eagle from www.cadsoft.de
You might also want to check their boardhouse list...there was a Bulgarian boardhouse with crazy low prices...(olimex.com or something like that..)

Looks like you've included all the stuff a UIRT2 can do, plus the extra LCD bits (and way more I/O) ... shame it doesn't seem to follow the same protocols as the UIR & UIRT, but as this seems to be divided into the Jon / Danijel camps I guess another protocol won't hurt.

I have a suggestion ...

I started my HTPC as a DVD / MP3 player ... then added file serving, print serving, mail serving, web proxying ... now I want to add TiVo capabilities (via a WinTV card).

I found DigiGuide who do a cheap annual TV Guide (at least for the UK) for scheduling, and lots of sites with software to record & MPEG encode (or DivX encode) BUT I'm still having trouble finding something to wake the PC up in time for the next programme.

How about adding a countdown timer to the HTPiC ... If the PC sent a value to a wake counter when it shuts down / suspends / hibernates your HTPiC can count down (perhaps using multiples of 30 seconds) and then re-awaken the PC.

Oh ... and I agree with the bloke who mentioned dropping CON / DIS, plus adding protocol version querying !

Sorry for the off-topic post, but since it's UIRT inspired and I've mentioned it in this forum before, I thought it might still be appropriate.

Rather than clutter this forum with non-UIRT messages, I'll redirect you to my main post at AVS:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=148792

I've created a device that was inspired by the UIRT and performs basically the same functions, but I added a bunch of other stuff. I've posted a picture and link to the user's manual (draft form) at AVS if you're interested.

Thanks.

Everyone, thanks for the encouragment!

Robin: It's funny you mention the wake on time thing. I had this very thought this past weekend. I'll definitlely be adding support for timed wakeups/powerups. It's especially easy because it doesn't require any I/O pins, since I've used them all up. I don't have a need for this feature yet, but I thought someone else might want it.

Everyone, I'm sorry I haven't been checking the Girder forums as much as I usually do, due to the DNS problems the sight has had in the recent past (computers at work have the bad records cached and I can't get rid of them yet). I'd like to continue any further discussion of my project on the AVS Forum:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=148792

I don't want to clutter the Girder forums with this project since it doesn't directly relate to Girder (or the UIRT) yet. Thanks all.
