How do you create IR codes?

I'm assuming most people here are using Girder with a universal remote to control all of their devices and not just the PC. I have found the new to create IR codes to do things specifically with the PC. In the past I have used another remote to a device that I no longer use to steal some IR codes. Is there another way that people handle this?

I am using a Harmony remote if that matters.
