Some users I have chatted with have expressed high interest to see support added to Mediabrige for SqueezeCenter which would allow that software to be much like JRMC and be able to use Squeezeboxes with Netremote. The protocol is open source and the software is free. Would be a great addition to NR/MB and certainly better than trying to use Winamp for multizone setups.

Very interesting, I'll have to take a closer look at that.

Any chance at looking at this yet? Slingmedia had some nice stuff at CES this year. I keep hearing interest in their products.

Am I missing a connection between SlingMedia and Logitech?

Sorry confused the two... I meant to say Squeezebox

Not installed it yet - I'm still not 100% clear whether you need to have any Squeeze hardware to run it successfully.

Logitec did buy the SlingMedia company.

Hardware is not required to use the infrastructure (they have software players which work the same way hardware players do).

Any progress on this?

Not yet, no - the next bit of work on Mediabridge is most likely to move the LDJ functionality there. But if someone else would like to make a start on this that would be fine with me :)

Any more thoughts/progress on Squeezebox integration?

I'm currently looking at a Squeezebox setup for zoned audio, but having it not integrated with my existing NR/Girder setup would be a backward step I think.

Would provide a nice cheap zoned audio distribution solution from what I've read.

Cheers

I have just switched to squeezebox. Its a great system.

NR could work with it. It can pull data from the squeezeserver quite easily using JSON requests.

The squeeze server solves problems that JRMC could not -> integration of my media library, internet radio, and streaming services like pandora, rhapsody and slacker, all under one control. Its great.

I am sad to see that nothing has been done with this after a year. I really believe that Mediabridge could be used to control the Softsqueeze as well as other Squeezebox devices and give many users the ability to expand their audio systems. As much as I like JRMC it seems their newer versions are creating issues with each release. Also the lack of Pandora and other internet radio support puts them behind.

This is just one of a long list of plugins that has helped other solutions like Homeseer/HSTouch to gain much of a lead over Promixis in the past 12 months.

The issue from this side isn't a lack of desire, just a lack of bandwidth.

If you have time/willingness to do some development, PM me and let's discuss off-line.

Best,
Tim

I think there is a lot of demand for this. It seems the Squeezebox gear is here to stay and, as Tim mentioned, it has given competitors the edge of late.

Actually, it was John that made that comment, but I definitely agree that Squeezebox support would be a good addition.

The strength of Promixis has always been its community. This is evidenced both in the forums, and in all the add-ons that community members have created.

To the extent that there is anyone out there willing to tackle a Squeezebox interface for MediaBridge, please PM me - I'd love to see this come together!

Best,
Tim

Oops, so it was. Sorry Tim and John.

I was actually thinking about this more last night and understand that these things are normally driven by the community. I get the sense that maybe we either don't have the followers here or are missing the skill-sets seen in other forums. Would love to help, but am next to useless with this sort of thing sorry :)

I agree. The SqueezeServer software is open source, free, does not require any hardware, and most importantly integrates many sources of content under one interface - ie Pandora, Slacker, Rhapsody, Internet Radio, etc etc.

The implementation should probably be done within NR and not MediaBridge. Doing the it in lua would allow using the same code also within Girder.
