I don't have any experience with the Asus adapter,.. but IrDA is a bad chooice for IR input anyway... its not suitable for it. Maybe you are in luch and it works,.. but don't get your hopes up.

I've got this ATX IR adapter made by ASUS, the same as my motherboard. It plugs straight onto the board and emulates COM port 2 (The BIOS just redirects the second UART).
The trouble is I can't get it to work. Apparently it's similar to the Actisys one, but I just can't get it to accept any input.
It works fine with my Nokia using the supplied software, but I can't get it to accept commands from a remote control.
I'm using the IrDa driver, and it enables the port fine, but it just won't recognise any input.
Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone had similar problems?
Cheers for your time.
