It can't hurt to find out what they are willing to tell you about how it works. If something more were possible, then some of us might just be motivated to get one and do it.

On AVS (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1221055#post1220589) the PowerMate PM says they have "Open Source" APIs. So maybe I'll give it a shot.

A first cut for a plug-in is available to the brave.
It has actions for setting the LED and events when you spin/push it.
I have not gotten non-blocking I/O to work with its device driver, so there are problems stopping. If you find that Girder hangs when exiting or disabling events, spin the knob to wake it up. I do not therefore recommend using this on a production HTPC setup.
I didn't do anything like "Sensitivity". What comes to mind is a variation of the Repeat action that requires a given number of device movements in close proximity, coming perhaps in different Girder events, for each repetition. Say, three ticks right within 500ms for each down arrow key press. I'm open to suggestions, naturally.

Just bought one of these http://www.griffintechnology.com/audio/pwrmate.html and it's a very nice bit of kit. Unfortunately, the control software that comes with it is fairly rubbish. Has anyone tried to get one working with Girder, and if not, should I email the manufacturers to try to get interface documentation?
Thanks.

I've had a powermate for ages, and have never really used it for anything.. So i was happy to see a Girder plugin for it when i first installed girder!
However, i can't seem to get it to work properly. The first few seconds after i launch girder everything works really great, but then the powermate girder plugin seems to drop the majority of the generated events. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround?
I am running the v1.4.1 powermate drivers, and i've killed the PowerMate.exe task before launching girder.
