View Full Version : Girder 5 Not Retaining/Remembering Settings on Restart

I have recently upgraded to Girder 5 from Girder 3.3 and my install seems to be having trouble retaining certain settings. For example, I enable Voice Manager under the Component Manager tab, but if I exit Girder and restart it, Voice Manager is not enabled and I must re-enable it manually. Similarly, if I turn File Logging on, set a log directory, and then restart Girder, File Logging is not enabled and the File Logging directory is blank, even though I had just set it up.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Girder 5, thinking I may have had a bad install, but I get the same results.

Am I missing something and/or doing something wrong, or is there some other potential issue that would explain this problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

Windows XP SP3 (Media Center Edition).

It sounds like the folder that stores the settings is read only or something. Do you see any errors in the Lua console?

I assume any error messages would be in the Lua console? Would they only show up when Girder starts? If so, how can I see them after the fact (in other words are they logged or do they persist anywhere)?

If I look at the Logger, I see the following:

"Transport Manager Unable to read config file Config File Open Failed"

Is this helpful?

Nope, it won't be that :(

What does Girder say is the config directory? File|Settings -then select the Configuration Files tab.

Rob -

Thank you for your help.

When I click File | Settings | Configuration Files tab, there seems to be a lot of white space. There is no configuration file directory listed, and when I click on the "Explore Directory" button, nothing happens...

That's pretty weird - I'd suggest reinstalling Girder I think. But maybe wait until a bit later as we're probably releasing a new version today.

FYI, I "nuked and paved" my XP system, and then installed Girder 5.0.9.543, and this problem seems to have disappeared. Something must have gotten corrupted somewhere along the line.

Thanks for your help.

That's good news.
