View Full Version : Clarify wiring for power on pc through power button

You don't need a resistor inline with the darlington because you have to pull that wire to ground.
Just connect one of the darlington outputs to that lead and then program the pic to produce a pulse for that output. The pin on the PIC will have a positive pulse but the darlington inverts this to negative.
The only thing left will be the duration of the pulse, I did it with the standard setting and it worked fine.

My motherboard does indeed short a 3.5v lead to ground to power on/off. I read that I need to send it a negative pulse to get this to work from the UIRT2. Would someone detail the settings that are working for them so I don't blow up the MB? Also what value of resistor are you using inline from the darlington? Many thanks in advance.
