New generation TV sets have LAN connection and is able to show content saved on a remotely placed PC. It can play music, show pictures, video. Controlling it might be done with TV Remote, but it probably be not that user friendly and flexible as NetRemote. Using NetRemote would only be possible if the command from Girder could be send to DLNA enabled TV. Example of TV i refer to can be found here:

Did somebody had experience with Girder and DLNA enabled TV??? Can I send a command from Girder to TV?

Possibly too recent? DLNA is a superset of UPNP - I think someone has done something with UPNP here.
