I used to operate my cheap serial IR receiver in WinXP and Girder 3 and everything was perfect. Recently I upgraded my machine and OS and the new one doesn't even have a serial port any more. I solved this problem by getting a USB to serial adapter which installed fine.
I'm unable however to get the Igor plugin work under Vista 64. It just doesn't seem to receive any input from the IR even though the LED on the IR flashes in response to remote control button presses.
Any ideas, suggestions, comments...greatly appreciated!

Is there another way to get the remote working with may be some other plugin? Is the 64 bit OS a serious setback?

I am not sure that is going to work :( Probably best to contact igor directly.

Just letting you know that I actually managed to get some gibberish input from the remote by installing the latest v1.15 Igorplugin, however each keypress on the remote generates some random input so it's totally unusable

I solved the remote problem once and for all yesterday by getting a cheapo Microsoft wireless optical mouse - for a plain $40 you get a mouse that works fine if you're within 15m from your PC - the ultimate remote - what more can you ask for
