Any word on whether this issue is resolved in the latest version of Girder?

It is kind of misleading in your advertising to say that Girder supports voice recognition, but it does not work with Vista.

Well it used to work. I'll have to have a look.

Any resolution on this? I would like to use Vista/Windows 7 recognition with Girder as well.

Rob:

Have you made any progress on getting voice recognition to work with vista and windows 7?

Ron:

When do you think that you will get around to this? I heard that the way sound is configured in Vista and Window 7 is very different than XP.

This is currently not high on my list I am sorry. I have a ton of work that needs to be done.

Ron:

Is there any plan to resolve the issue with voice recognition and vista?

This is the only thing holding me back from upgrading from windows xp to windows 7.

Are there any other issues with Windows 7 and Girder?

David

It is planned to be resolved but it has not been near the top of the work list at the moment. We've been incredibly busy behind the scenes.

Windows 7 should be fine, if possible stick with the 32 bit version for maximum compatibility. (Note Girder does run on 64bit but controlling 64 bit applications is currently limited).

Any word on the timing for the next release of Girder / Netremote? It would be great to get some of these bugs worked out before I transition over to Windows 7.

David

The next NetRemote is coming up within a month or so. Closed beta testing is going on as we speak.

The next release of Girder is planned for June.

Will the next build of Girder address voice recognition with Windows 7 and some of the other outstanding bugs? I was going to start transitioning over to this new operating system today.

I've tested the speech plugin by Gregory Bumgardner downloaded from

http://www.avepro.com/SpeechPlugin/

The installer appears to be targetting Girder 4, but with some path modifications this works in Girder 5.

I've tested on Windows Vista 64 and Windows 7 64 both work.

What is not working for you? Can you describe in as much detail as possible?

I haven't tested it yet. I read other posts that said it was not working. I will proceed with my Windows 7 update.

paul.

I can also confirm that everything is working well. I installed windows 7 64 bit and the speech plugin and no problems at all (I did have to change the install directory location).

I would like to see some other grammer files also.

As an aside, I am really liking windows 7 over xp.

can someone give me some guidance on what they did to get the plugin to work win win7....I have been poking and no luck.

I installed SpeechSDK51.exe, installed plugin making sure to put it in the correct directory (girder5), rebooted, selected\unselected the plugin multiple times.....no love.

thanks in advance for the help!

well I am not sure what magic you guys did to get it working..I failed. Instead I decided to use the native win7 speech recognition and speech macros to launch event.exe to turn light on and off....pretty much the same in the end.

I didn't install the SpeechSDK51.exe. I only installed the speech plugin for Girder.

Also, you need to make sure that you go through one of the speech training tutorials with Windows 7.

It still shows an error when loading in the log, but everything works fine.

I went and installed this, but in the readme it says you need to install the "Speech" plugin in Girder, but i do not see it there.. does it only come with girder Pro? and if so is there any trial for girder pro?

OK so after speaking with you over the phone today Ron, i double checked and i hadnt copied the speech plugin files from avepro over to the girder 5 directory, so i did this now, and now the plugin shows up in the list of plugins, but when i click it and select apply, and then ok, and reopen the plugins window the speech plugin is unchecked again.. ive installed the microsoft speech sdk5.1 but still having the same issue. Any ideas? im really looking forward to getting this working. Iv e also opened the speech recognition demo gml, but nothing happens when i talk, and i dont have any tab for speech in the plugins area..

Thanks for any help you can provide.
