I've been working with an installer of Rako Lighting, Looks like some nice gear in the UK for a change!

Anyhoo, I thought i'd check them out when i got home and low and behold they have an RS232 doo-dah that lets you control the dimmers, set scenes and the like.

Heres the protocol (http://www.rakocontrols.com/downloads/rakors232commandsummary.pdf) - Doesn't look like too much grief, Might be a nice one for Girder to support?! More strings to the bow's and all that...

What are the chances of a driver?
This has got definately Rob "thecodeninja"s name all over it......

LOL. Doesn't look too bad, but I'd really need the hardware.

I would be happy to write one if the price was right on these units....I am no expert but have written two serial drivers for my Theta processor and JVC projector with a lot of help from Rob of course :)

Depends where you shop, Google got me plenty of retailers...

As a rough guide:
RS232~Rako RF Transmitter =£100ish.
250W Ceiling Mount Dimmer =£80ish.
800W Ceiling Mount Dimmer (can be used with fluorescent's) =£130ish.
7 button light switch =£140ish.

I've had another look at the protocol, looks easier than i first thought!

Their factory/training centre is only an hours drive from me (somewhere in the place they call Essex's dustbin - Kent) I'll see if i can get a tour & it just so happens i'll have my girder laptop with me ;)
