And I'm happy with the Streamzap remote as well...
I plan to switch to UIRT as a receiver (as soon as I get it working) in order to also control the rest of my stereo through one remote

First: welcome to the world of Girder!
Second: Congratulations on your choice of USB remote control: StreamZap is very great!
Yes, it is REALLY weird, but the software must be running as it sends the codes to Girder.
Good thing: it translate the IR codes to string like "PLAY" or "STOP" making our job easier than other remotes!!!
I'm glad to find another StreamZap / Girder user! now we're at least 3!!!!!

I'm as well planning to build a UIRT, but for the living room...
I figured I could use the VCR's remote for the living room's computer, and StreamZap would end up more expansive, so I tought just to build one... using my tech skills!... but on MY computer, StreamZap rules!
:D
anyhow, I'm happy that StreamZap have a girder plug-in, because while the remote rules, their prog doesn't have much customizable options. (well, it's easy, straight forward, efficient and user friendly)

I got the Streamzap today, and have it connected all up. Used the software that came with it and it is working properly - runs winamp etc.
I closed that app and started girder. All is good, but when I go to learn a command I just get "Waiting for IR Code." in girder. The light on my receiver is blinking, but girder never sees it.
I am using girder 3.2.4 and the Streamzap plugin v1.2 for girder 3.2 It is enabled and no errors.
Any ideas, I have tried all I can think of.
Thanks,
Rob

streamzap is cool but girder is what makes it useful to me

if we can get enough programmer/tester support, we might try to create a USB plugin for Girder, so that we don't have to run the streamzap software also (http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2751). the streamzap software is good in the one way Marsupial mentioned, but its annoying in many ways (http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2782).

HEY!
WOW!!!!
I'd enlist for beta testing a USB plugin for girder. already got the USB streamzap receiver.
If I understand fine, you could run any remote from this one receiver?
I'd be glad to use this plugin... :D

right now, were a long way from beta testing. we don't even have a program to beta test yet!
all we have is one programmer with no girder plugin programming experience, no windows programming experience and no usb programming experience (me) and two beta testers (you and me). so don't start getting your hopes up just yet!
the only thing we have going for us is that we can probably re-use some of the universal serial plugin source code.
i don't expect to be able to create a working plugin. that will probably require programmers with experence in the three areas i mentioned.

Hi!
I brabbed StreamZap again about the universal remote control capability they are still promising on their website... their statement about that is that it's not done yet, but this time I asked about a girder universal remote plugin for streamzap... here's their answer:
You are right that we have promised this feature for a while. Since it has taken a long time, we are considering creating a "universal" girder plugin as you describe. We might be able to make this faster. I will let you know when it's available.
Thanks!

I am also a streamzap - girder user and would be willing to help out in any way possible. WARNING - I can only do very basic girder programming. The only experience I have wuth girder was to make a setup for winamp. But I entirely ofer my limited help in any way possible. I would love to be able to use another remote through the stresmzap setup.
