Anyone know if there is a way to send actions to a sound card? I would like to be able to change the setting for my sound card setting from Dolby Digital Live to just PCM

Well - Hardware Settings are mostly a mix of registry keys (where they are stored) and driver components (where they are applied). If you know the relevant keys and driver components, it could be possible by changing the reg and restarting the service. But there is no guarantee.

How would I go about changing the registry with girder?

You can do that from a Lua scripting action - see the Registry objects part of Lua Library Reference\win Library in the help.

Just a tip:
I always use "Registry watch" to find out what keys are being changed.
Trial available here: http://www.easydesksoftware.com/regwatch.htm

Alternatively there's the free Process Monitor from the SysInternals guys http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx

Thanks Rob:
I will need help with the lua script. I looked at the example in the G5 manual and it looks like Greek to me. :)
All the best,

Rob:
OK. I did my best to identify the registry change that is happening when I make changes to the driver.
I have attached a file. Would you be able to help me get this working. I would like to be able to change between 96 KHz and 48 KHz and Dolby Digital using the scripting actions in Girder.

David

I don't have time today, but I'll see what I can do tomorrow unless anyone else can help in the meantime.

Thanks Ron:
I have attached one more file. I would also like to be able to switch between SPDIF and Analog.
For this file I attached the "Process" as well as the "Event". Let me know if you know if you need the "Process for the other file that I up loaded.

David

Rob:
I just realized that my last email said "thanks Ron". I got you guys mixed up - sorry about that.
It would be great if you could get this figured out for me. I now have my receive hooked up in two ways - both through the SPDIF and through the analog ports. I will be using the analog ports for watching blu-ray movies and the spdif for music and DVD's.
All the best,
David
