If you can change your OS, KeyboardEX is the one you need.
I as well had trouble and decided not to use it, but had only minor usage of it. I think there is something wrong with it, but could not isolate.
I am using WinME :( and Girder 3.2 (first 3.2 release)
What version of Win98 do you have?
Win98SE is the stablest of the 98
hope to be usefull...

My OS turned unstable when I used KeyboardEX. Ok it can be anything, afterall it is a microsoft product, and Millenium Edition is not what I would call stable, but it stoped when I uninstaleld the plug-in, so it is a sign...
My HTPC is a duron 900 128M ram 30Gb HD with winME (stock installed)

I guess then it was a great idea of me to stop using it... :D
anyhow, you know how I prefer running low on plugins ;) the less plug-ins the better all runs.
And as I said, except if you need to BLOCK keys, it is not mandatory.
but I do believe it does not run great on ME (warning for you ME users - forget the keyboardEx)

Is there a way to skip the original keycode.
I'm using the keyboard as device. (that's the only device supported for my Fujitsu Siemens Multitainer)
The keyboardEx plugin seemed to do that, but unfortunately that's crashing the other applications on Windows98.
Since my remote is sending regular key-codes like page-down etc. it's confusing the receiving appl. when it's also receives the translated keys.
would be most obliged if somebody could help me out on this

thanX for your reply.
I am using WIN98se
I am thinking of changing to WinNT (or dual boot) but still hesitating a bit, since this is a new machine, with some dedicated sw (video drivers) and I don't want to mess up too much for now, still trying out all kind of configurations like Girder.
I tried KeyboardEx on WinNt & W2000 (on another pc) and there it seemed to work :) , not crashing any other app's. at least.
I am using Girder 3.2
Did you have problems with keyboard or keyboardEX :-?

and the same goes for Win98; just having the keyboardex active is enough to crash app's like explorer, office etc.
btw, i'm trying a different approach now, i'm forcing the focus to another (harmless) application now
for instance the 'next track' key on my remote is sending a ctrl, shift, page down, which will act in an appl like Realone player, like a page down in the play list (skip a couple of tracks), instead of going to the next track as I instructed him, By putting the focus on another appl. it's going ok,
Not optimum yet, but until there's a better keyboard driver, it's ok

Me too, I have tried to use the pluging keyboard EX 2.1 with girder 3.2 on windows 98 on my Multitainer....and of course I have the same probleme. Do you know if it will be possible to correct this pluging for windows 98SE ? Or do you have any ideas to block keycode for some application ?
Thanks in advance.
