Which receiver are you using?

Only Igor's plugin or the WinLIRC plugin (with WinLIRC running as well) will work with that receiver. Try setting the priority of Igor's plugin to 8. It will use more cpu, but might work better. This receiver doesn't work well under high cpu load since it is software based. I'm currently using Igor's plugin at priority 6 in Windows XP on a 1.4GHz system - I only have problems receiving when my cpu is under 100% load. Here is a thread which might be related to your problem: http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2044

Okay, another victim here.
My computer stopped working, so I had upgraded the motherboard from an Abit BX6 2.0 to a Tyan Tiger MPX. I also upgraded from Windows 98SE to Windows XP.
I had been using WIRC which worked perfectly with 98, but does not work in XP. So I decided to have a go with Girder. And no matter what I did, none of the serial IR plugins sent events to Girder except for the generic serial receiver/transmitter and the Igor plugin.
The generic serial plugin on sends "Carrier Detected" and "Carrier Lost" events to Girder, and the Igor plugin gets pseudo-random numbers in DCD mode and level 7 priority.
I searched through a lot of old threads, but it seems nobody has been able to solve this problem.
Hopefully someone can help me now, though. . .
I suspect it may be a motherboard issue. My old motherboard was almost 3 years old when it broke, but the receiver does not work on my father's laptop (2 years) or my new machine (five months old). Does anyone with a new computer have Girder working?

I'm using the Packard Bell Fast media remote/receiver.

Ah . . .setting it to the highest priority worked. Thanks.
Thought I'm not sure why that would matter with literally 0 CPU utilization.
