Yes, the built-in Internet EventServer lets you use TCP/IP to send and receive Girder events across a network.

See the ievent_readme.txt file in the help directory off the main Girder directory. If you have problems or questions, ask away. :D

EDIT: I missed a question, sorry.

In the Internet Event Client command settings dialog, the server name should be the name of the computer that is running the event server.

When you bring up the Internet Event Server settings page, there is a big field at the top and an edit field right below it. The edit field is where you will type any host information (this is the host name box).

According to the documentation -

to match a single IP address, you place that IP address in the form #.#.#.# into the host name box and press add

to match a host name, you place the name, preceded by a slash, (like this: /girder.nl) in the name box and press add

to match a MAC address, you place the MAC address in the form #:#:#:#:#:# into the host name box and press add

I have no idea what a "MD5 digest calculator" is or why you would need to worry about that if you are using the supplied client and server. Sorry. :(

MD5 is a checksum/hash type thing, similar to CRC. It is used to varify that files are original and uncorrupt. Dunno what that has to do with the Internet Event Client/Server stuff though.

Wondering if there is a way to trigger and event on a different computer on a LAN?

Mark,

In the Client it asks for the Server: What do I put there?

In the Server: Allowed Hosts: I see no box described as the Host Name box nor the ability to Match single IP, Match hostname, Match MAC address.

I got it working. The main problem was the Lynksys router. I had to allow the ports through that I was using.
