lua event repeat problem

ok i need a bit of help I have most of my interface done however the navigation buttons are giving me a fit if i use the lua ondown it doesn't repeat when held. However if i simply use lua event option it repeats but even on a fast flick fires twice i have tried several delay actions but it has no effect
