I'm interested in the UIRT2, particularly in the pre-assembled model Luc is selling. I am very comfortable installing things in my computer and handing configuration issues. I am learning my way around Girder. However, I do not know anything about soldering, and I don't program! :-? So, I have several questions before I invest:

1. Is this product user friendly enough for the "non-techie"?
2. Do the IR flashers that attach to the equipment to be controlled come with this packet, or would I need to purchase them separately? If purchased separately, what products work?
3. How long can the external IR receiver cable be? I am looking to build a cabinet in the back of my theater to house equipment. If I place an IR receiver at the front of the room, then run about 20 feet of cable to the computer, would this product work?

Thanks for any help you can offer!!

1: The assembled version is, the only thing left to do for the B version is to wire the receivers and emiiters to the jacks with the cable lenght, color etc.. of your choice.
2: There are 2 emitters included.
3: That would probably be too long, depends on the environment: disturbances etc.. You could try it with good shielded cable and hope for the best.

Thanks, Luc. I'll probably order one shortly.
