Does the LCD correctly display the current track if you use the main Winamp window? It should; most do. A very quick glance at the source to the plugin suggests that it tries to.
In that case, just ignore the fact that the LCD plugin is there. Instead, concentrate on getting Winamp to select the song you want. The LCD will follow. In particular, nevermind that the LCD has the ability to select in the playlist using a number pad.
Specifically, use NumBuilder to take digits from the remote. Then use SendMessage to tell Winamp to select the playlist item number you have built up. You should be able to find examples of this elsewhere in the forum. If not, ask again and someone should be able to point you to at it.
Or, if you prefer, use OSDMenu to have an on-screen menu (like the on-LCD menu). Underneath, it will be the same -- telling Winamp to select the song and relying on the LCD plugin to notice the change and update.

Is Winamp the foreground application?
If so, you can use Girder's Keyboard action with the Send to foreground task checkbox on. For instance, the DIVIDE Special Key will toggle the LCD menu (in the sample Keyboard Input Configuration).
It does not work to target the Winamp window, because of the way the LCD plugin intercepts keyboard input with a hook.

Beat me to the punch - I had the same problem - and the same solution.
BTW - if you use winamp - there is simply no other way to interact with it than with this plugin. It is amazing! I use it connected to my home stereo and the LCD is the control display. Fantastic - it menus and displays the ID3 tag info so you can select titles/artists/ great stuff...

the plugin give me the possibility to browse trough the playlist directory.
I donīt like to choose the albums only by numbers.
The plugin has many very nice functions i like to use too.
I have chosen this because it looks very nice and it is user friendly.
The plugin can be controlled by winlirc (i opened another thread 2 weeks ago...),but i donīt know how to do this with girder.
The plugin use a TCP/IP connection to the program winlirc to get his commands.
The commands come as text like this:
play myremote 00000b4b32 (not real, just for example)
on port 8765.
Got anybody an idea?

now it works.
I hadīnt think about the foreground application checkbox before.
Now itīs activated and the Functions of the plugin can be called by the remote.
