Reading the about on the uirt2a, I did not fully understand what In Circut Real Programming IS for. I understand that if you want to use it, you need to supply power to the shunt1 jumpers. The question is what is the programming for and is it necessary to use the uirt2a with Girder.

Second of all, what is the input pin for, and what does it connect to.

Third, is the firmware used to program the pic? Is it used for In circuit real programming IS.

Finally, I dont have a wake on modem, wake on lan on my motherboard. I guess the only option is the power button, but the question is how do I connect it to there from the UIRT2A to wake him up.

Also since i connected everyting on a board and didnt put wires for the external power connectors and so on, can I supply a voltage from some source in the computer through the wol connectors, only on the 2 pins, the ground and the 5volts.

Thank you for you time. I appreaciate it.

ICSP is used to program the firmware in an empty PIC so that the PIC can perform all functions for the UIRT2.
You need the firmware file (.HEX) wich contains the intelligence for the PIC.
Then you use a programmer to transfer the HEX file into the PIC.

The input pin can be used to connect a switch, this will create an event in Girder just like a button press on the remote.

If you want to use the powerbutton you have to make absolutely sure that it makes contact to ground, most MB's do it like this but some don't.

To supply the +5VSB you will have to find a pin on your motherboard wich has this. There's usually one on the pins for the frontpanel switches and led's. If you can't find one you will have to take it from the power supply wires directly

Hi, Luc , and tnx for reply, I have solved most of my problems, maybe few minutes after posting here, I only needed to read all of those sites more carefully... I do not have wol or wom on my mobo, with voltmeter i have'nt found any source of el. on mobo , and I know that i have to use power directly fom ps for wake up function.... But I have bigger problem with UIRT , after finishing receiver , i have plug all cords to it's places , and tryed to flash (or program) uirt , but , the Daniel P. program gave mi an error 0x00000 (or something like it), I've checked evrything , on the board ( +12 V were connected to shunt, +5V , and GND were connected to wol conn.) ... Does this error have any specific meaning, or I have to find it by my self (mistake made during the production) ...

Thanks again ....

Greetings

If you are sure that all components are correct and there are no solder bridges etc.. then I would suggest you have a look at:
http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2368
and verify the level of pin 4 on the PIC.
This thread might steer you in the right direction.
