View Full Version : UIRT plug-in cannot learn or control Denon amps?

Anyone controlling any Denon equipment with a UIRT?

Kerry is reporting a
Denon AVR-3200 problem and I am having trouble with a
Denon AVC-A10SE (AVR4800 minus the tuner) in http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2382

a) The learn button, but the sequence never gets above step 2. General UIRT remote control IR input works quite reliably from the Denon's remote though. Learn and transmit works for an IR lighting remote and Pioneer CLD-925 Laserdisc remotes/players I have.

b) Imported Pronto codes for these amps don't seem to work either
e.g.
Power On AVCA10SE (from four different user's Pronto CCF's using PronoEdit)

I'm looking for encouragement that any Denon equimpent can be controlled. I'd also like a solution!

I suspect it's the Learn function of the Girder 3.2 plug-in assuming the code sequence has reset incorrectly, but am not sure how to troubleshoot futher. I'm using a recent pre-programmed board from Luc.

thanks and regards,
Rob.

Rob,
I sent the author of the UIRT plugin an e-mail on Thursday. He asked me to send him the codes from the IR Debug so he can take a look at the problem. Here is his response:

"Kerry,

I will try to look into this in the next few days. The good news is that
the UIRT will definitely support this format and your UIRT is getting a
good, clean signal!

-Jon"

This does look like good news. Hopefully Jon will find the cause soon.

Kerry, Jon,
How did the testing go?

Is there anything I can do to help out? I could sample my Denon raw dedug codes or such? Or even be a same ear to run the issues by here.

regards,
Rob.

Same problem with Dennon 2801 - learn does not go past 5 bars unless the button is hit repeatedly very fast and then only 10 bars for a split second.

Pronto code (0000 006d 0010 0020 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 06d6 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 0686 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 0046 000a 001e 000a 001e 000a 06d6 ) does not work either.

Looking at the RAW output, it seems that these codes are different every time:

I had to press the remote's power on button 7 times to get the above. I have tried pasting the whole set into the Code 1 input line, but it gets corrupted. I found the reason for this is that there were spaces between the hex codes; if these are removed, the corruption won't happen. This is why there are no spaces in the above text. Further, this whold mess cannot be pasted into the input line because there is a limitation of the length for this box. So, you will notice by the formatting of the above, there seems to be a single start string, then 2 command strings and the last is a half-read sequence. Still won't work, but I think this is why the learning won't work. Am I on the right track?

I have a Palm and noticed that there exists a program to do IR - OmniRemote. Trained it for the Denon - no problem, it works great. Too bad the distance is dismal and it doesn't do TCP/IP. I tried using this to train the UIRT2 - same thing, the progress stays at 5. I think the way training should be changed - does the source for OmniRemote exist and would it pertain to the UIRT2 and Girder?

Anything further on this?....

Somehow I got lucky and learned the mute button and then I couldn't learn any other buttons. Tried the mute button again and couldn't do it...

Jon says he will fix it when he gets some time - please see thread:

Thanks for the update guys.

I'm really looking forward to this plug-in fix.

At the moment I've gone back to IRman as UIRT2 isn't as reliable and can send to control the main bit of equipment I need the HTPC to be able to work.

best regards,
Rob.

All,

I am looking for people to test an experimental new plugin and firmware which will hopefully address the Denon issue.

If you would like to test, you need:
1. To be able to flash your PIC firmware (I cannot help you with this)
2. Be running the 2.0 plugin (Girder 3.2 or higher)
3. Post with the 'IR Debug' capture of your amp's Power button.
4. Give me a way to send you some test code.

Cheers guys.

I would like to help.

I think I need extra volts to the UIRT2 to re-program the PIC? It's a ready made internal one from Luc, using WOL cable.

Can anyone confirm this for me.

Thanks,
Rob.

No, you just need to remove the jumper. No 12V.

All,

I have created new firmware for the UIRT/UIRT2 which can be used to enable Denon-type IR transmissions. The plugin, however, is unfinished and does not yet have the ability to learn these codes. IF you want to manually create the codes (a 1-minute procedure per button) you can use it today.

All who are interested please let me know.

Jon,

You are a god :)

At least a programming god. It works great! Thanks again for taking the time to fix the Denon problem. I'm sure many people will benefit from your hard work.
