View Full Version : Why won't Girder recognize the UIRT2 plugin?

I bought an assembled UIRT2 from Luc awhile ago and am finially getting around to installing it. I read all of the instructions at http://www.fukushima.us/uirt2/. I d/l'd Girder 3.2.4 and installed it. I d/l'd Jon Rhees UIRT plugin version 2.0. I put the plugin into the plugins directory (unzipped, of course). When I start Girder and open the dialog (File-Settings-Plugins), I don't see the plugin to select it.

I tested the UIRT2 with the rec'd test program ( http://w1.864.telia.com/~u86435834/UIRT_test.zip ) and it works.

Any ideas about what I may be doing wrong?

[Any questions re my config, please see http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=887041#post887041 ]

TIA

Make sure where you are executing Girder. Follow that directory and look in the plugins directory. UIRT.DLL should be there. If not, copy it again to this directory.

Start Girder and in FIle-Settings-Plugins, scroll to the bottom and look for UIRT driver. Make sure it has a check in it.

EDIT- make sure in the Path to plugins, you have specified to exact place where you put the plugins. The default is C:\Program Files\Girder 3\Plugins.

That should do it.

Thanks, yes this was the problem - use the Program Files->Girder 32, I was pointing to my software dir  .

Now, I get the infamous "cannot set com port speed" problem. Reading the thread http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2067 leads me to believe that either the firmware or the hardware may be at fault. Should I change the firmware (from what Luc programmed it with to Danijel Pticar's PIC) or modify the hardware (remove ZD1 or R7)?

Will this (either the change in firmware or hardware) cause any problems with how the signals are read by Girder?

[Please see my config in the link in my first post - P4 1.6 O/C to 2.32...]

TIA

You can solve the "cannot set com port speed" problem by using a cable wich only connects RXD, TXD and GND or use a new UIRT plugin wich solves this problem, a few people have tested it and it works.
I will mail it to you if you give me your email address.
I will also post it on my website when I find the time, hopefully this week.

Got the plugin and unzipped it into the plugins dir.

Girder enables it fine. Version 2.0, Device Number 31, API version 1, UIRT by Jon Rhees & Ron Bessems.

Thanks, Luc :)

Is it now available for download?

Luc,
I downloaded the uirt.dll from your site just now and I put in girder, on startup I get a "Connot find all requiered exports in dll:c:\...\uirt.dll"
and girder can see the plugin. The old dll 104kb from the girder download page works ok.

There are three UIRT2 plugins on Luc's page. The first one is the old Girder 3.1 plugin, the second one is the current UIRT2 plugin, and the third one is the new plugin.

This one: New UIRT2 plugin (http://users.skynet.be/sky50985/new_uirt.zip) works fine for me with Girder 3.2.

I just went to the web page and couldn't find the link for the plugin. I hit the refresh and voila!!
Damn cached pages!! :-)
