Girder and WIRC

Ok, here's my problem. I switched to windows XP from 98. In 98, I was capable of using my remote, no problem. When I switched to XP, I could no longer use my remote because apparently WIRC is not compatable with XP. So someone suggested using Girder. I have been trying to set Girder up with my remote for the past couple of days with no success. When I press the button "learn event" and the button on my remote, it says "waiting for IR code." So I'm guessing there is a problem since it will not recognize the remote possibly? Do I need WIRC to use Girder?

On a more serious note, what kind of IR device are you using? If it is the Packard Bell one, you need to find the IGOR plugin. Do a search for it in the forums.
