im about to build the uirt 2 and i have some questions

http://www.fukushima.us/uirt2/images/UIRT2A_pic.jpg

like on that picture there are IR emmiters..do i really need that..i took apart my packard bell reciever and it didnt have them just the IR receiver...

and i read that there are the 4 mhz and 10mhz PIC chips

which one is better?

and to what do i connect the wires taht would go to the power button

and were do they sale Vishay TSOP4838, 38 kHz

then would a 10.7330Mhz crystal work?

and were do i get the capacitors from??

and the places have to ship to usa

If you only need the receiving function then there's no need for the emitters and they can be left out.

There's no difference in performance, both work equally well, so I would go for the cheapest.

Use WOL if you can, it's the easiest. Some motherboards give problems to use the power connector

then would a 10.7330Mhz crystal work?

No, it's 7% off.

Can't help with suppliers in the USA, I think other threads in this forum do.

Newark Electronics sells the TSOP detector in the US (there might be some other sources as well, but not everyone sells these components piece by piece)

Good luck

what about a 10.0710Mhz crystal>>>>>>>.

then according to this http://www.newark.com/product-details/text/CD120/52590.html

i would need this TSOP2238 cause its 38khz..the TSOP4838 is only 30khz

then is the the right CAPACITOR 1000V 22PF RAD 5 EA.CERAMIC DISC

then the Elco 100µ 25V capacitor...is that µF or µP

now i found everything exept cap 100n step 5mm ahhhh

and tnx alot fran for taht link :D

You can also look at:

Digikey (http://www.digikey.com/)
Mouser (http://www.mouser.com/)

Mouser is my personal favorite, but I'm not sure if they stock all the components needed for the UIRT2. Have you considered buying a UIRT2 kit from Luc?

I'm no expert, but I think:

The crystal and PIC need to match in frequency and be either 4MHz or 10MHz (not 10.071, exactly 10.000). The last two numbers in the TSOP product code refer to that device's frequency, so both the TSOP2238 and TSOP4838 are 38kHz receivers. I recommend the one specified by Luc. I'm not sure about the first capacitor. From what you have written about the second capacitor though, it looks like a 100 micro farad electrolytic.

Someone else should be able to help you further. Also look here: Windtrader's Complete UIRT2 Guide (http://www.fukushima.us/UIRT2/) for a lot of useful UIRT2 info.
