Only one piece of software can have the COM port open at a time. They are mutually exclusive.
However, if you can start and stop maX10 while Girder is running, you could disable the particular port inside Girder while maX10 was running and enable it when done.

I have configured my mouseremote to operate fine for controlling my bedroom theatre plasma etc via RF using the serial plugin in girder and sending ir commands from slink-e to each device.
The reason for using RF is plasmas interfere with ir receivers.
I would like to use the mouse feature while the htpc is selected on the plasma so I can surf or select wimamp stuff etc.
I understand max10 offers the best course can this run on the same port as the serial plugin or are they mutually exculsive?
Mark F?
Thanks Rick

Getting the mouse to work along with Girder and the serial plugin would be great, but its not a reality. Using maX10 to send a "Girder Event" to Girder for each key press is about the only way. This provides more possible functionality over the serial plugin method since each mouseremote group (PC CD WEB DVD & PHONE) will each produce a different set of keys on the remote. It also means a lot of work to set things up on maX10. PM me if you want a copy of my max10.dat.
-Use the COM port for mouseremote receiver and not the PS2 port.
-Use "Start a Program" option in maX10 for each key.
-For simplicity, use syntax that is easy to follow containing the group followed by the key (i.e. PC group PLAY button would be (PC-PLAY). For example, the Path would be:
C:\Program Files\girder\girder.exe -eventstring PC-PLAY.
-You will also have to "learn" each event in Girder.
-The mouseremote has a bug. If you use the X10 button to turn lights on/off, the remote will not return to any of its other modes unless you specifically press the PC or AUX button.
-Under Windows XP, it seems to take about 15 seconds for maX10 to become active when you first start it.

Or, without using maX10, you can set up the Serial plugin with one of the files in the .zip file near the end of this (http://www.girder.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2693) thread and get unique events from the serial plugin based on the same (PC CD WEB DVD & PHONE) mode paradigm.
To do this requires the serial plugin (V3.0.6), LUA (standard with Girder 3.2.5 and above) and WinLUAEx (LUA extension plugin).

Wow. Don't know how I missed that thread. Reality has been changed. Thanks Mark.

Reality has been changed.
I haven't done that for a LONG time. And even then, I didn't inhale! ;)
Enjoy. :D
