Hi,

Will two different UIR devices produce the same output string given the same input IR? If so, is the algorithm for converting raw IR data into UIR strings published anywhere?

I have a UIRT2 hooked up in 1 computer, and a dumb serial IR receiver hooked up another computer using winlirc to send events to girder.

I would like to write a plugin that bypasses winlirc altogether, and emulate UIR by using the computer's processor to generate UIR event strings directly. This would make it easier for me to migrate configurations back and forth between computers, because I wouldn't have to go through the trouble of getting another UIRT2 hooked up on my other computer.

In order to do this, I need to find details of the IR data -> UIR string algorithm.

Is this feasible? Good idea? Managing my remote control setup through both winlirc and girder is cumbersome.

P.S. I'm also x-posting this into the developer forum (original posting in UIRT forum).

I don't think Ties Bos ( From Evation ) released the algorithm he used for the UIR. Sorry.

are UIR/UIRT/UIRT2 strings compatible? My main interest is in compatibility with UIRT2 strings... if the algorithm for that is available...

Don't know. You'll have to wait for a reply in the UIRT forum.
