There is a WinTV exportgroup on the
girder site. Is that what you are looking
for ?

Does anyone know the WinTV universal remote code that I can punch in so that I can control WinTV with my universal remote?

I was actually looking for the 4 digit code that you punch into unviersal remotes so that you can control particular brand name products like Sony or RCA. Some WinTV boards come with a built in IR receiver and a remote to control it. Luckily, I managed to find out the code, which is 0054 if anyone is interested. Now I can control WinTV directly with my universal remote instead of the one it came with. :)

you mean you can control your wintv-card with your universal remote without transmitting the functions of the original one to the universal remote?

if this is the case i've got a question.
i have an universal remote, too. it has some additional buttons in contrast to the original wintv remote.
is there a way to be able to use these additional buttons?

ps: thread is nearly one year old but i hope it's ok to go on with it.

Well, I'm not sure if this 100% answers your question, but . . .

We have a DirecTV-Tivo remote control. When you switch the SAT-TV switch to TV, it emits different IR codes for the number buttons (meant for the TV set, instead of the DirecTV/Tivo unit). Since we don't have a TV per se (we use a plasma monitor instead), I'm using these extra buttons to do other things. For example, when I press "1," it changes the HTPC to view our front door webcam; when I press "2," it changes it to view the driveway webcam, etc.

This is really one of the highlights of Girder -- you can essentially have it do anything with your PC in response to any remote control code . . . .

thats my problem.
the ir receiver of my wintv-card seems to notice only the signals of the original hauppauge remote control, but nearly no other remote control.
i've tried all the remotes i found (11) and only one was compatible.
unfortunatly not the one i wanted to use originally.

I see. Then the thing you want to do is get another IR receiver, which can talk to Girder. There is the IRMan from www.evation.com, which I use, and a lot of people use the Igor device.

Are there any updates regarding the use of alternative remote control units via the WinTV IR receiver?

I would like to be able to use a former set top box remote control (box blew up) with effectively over 70 buttons (via selectable TV/VCR/SAT modes). But with Girder's WinTV plugin loaded, it won't recognise any keypresses from my set top box remote. Is there yet a way to make it accept keypresses from other remote control units?

Seems not to be possible. This is one of the hardcoded receivers.
